Lupus is a multi-system chronic disease without a cure.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), is the most common type of hashtag#lupus. SLE is an 𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐢𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 in which the body’s immune system attacks its own tissues, causing widespread inflammation and tissue damage in the affected organs. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐯𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬, damaging the joints, skin, brain, lungs, kidneys, or blood vessels.

Despite the hurdles faced by researchers every day in the fight against Lupus, 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐮 - Professor at UCLouvain - Université catholique de Louvain and Head of Rheumatology at Cliniques universitaires Saint-Luc - comments:
💬 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐬𝐮𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐒𝐋𝐄 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐝𝐫𝐮𝐠𝐬. These drugs, of course, are still being developed, but they are already available in everyday life for complicated cases. They make it possible to avoid other drugs that are more toxic. Of course, we'll have to be cautious and see over the long term whether these are tolerated as well as the studies currently show. But frankly, this is a good time, fortunately, for these patients whose disease is taking a heavy toll on them.
