Olivier Chastel

Professional Background:
Olivier has built a distinguished career combining scientific expertise with high-level public administration. A pharmacist by training, he began his career as a research assistant at the ULB before becoming head of department and quality manager at Quality Assistance. In the public sphere, he has held leading positions in Belgium, notably as Federal Minister for the Budget and Administrative Simplification.

Additional Expertise:
Since 2019, he has sat in the European Parliament, where he brings his financial expertise to bear in the Committee on Budgets and the Committee on Budgetary Control. His expertise is particularly recognised in the fields of fiscal consolidation, public health (SANT Subcommittee) and the environment.

Education:
He holds a degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences with a specialisation in Industrial Pharmacy, from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB).
